Resilient Housing for Self-Development
Make informed decisions about selecting and using design solutions to reduce flooding and improve comfort in your housing.
The Re-HOUSED decision support toolkit is the outcome of ongoing climate research.
“It doesn't make sense for you to have so much investments being wasted, where your house is drowning or when it's raining, I can't move into my street, oh I can't come in.”
Research Focus Group Participant describes the severity of flooding in Lekki (Lagos), Nigeria (Ken-Opurum, 2021)
The Re-HOUSED toolkit includes three tools to help self-builders in coastal urban regions make better informed resilience decisions for their housing; the Matrix of consolidated design solutions, the multi-criteria decision support Web App, and the Step-by-step resilient strategies Guidebook.
Re-HOUSED is powered by bottom-up resilience knowledge from lived experiences of frontline communities, diverse cultures, ‘fight or flight’ of households, and local/indigenous knowledge.
